Sylkis silk pillowcases are machine washable however to keep your Sylkis silk pillowcase in its pristine condition, we highly recommend handwashing.

Step-by-Step Silk Care:

Hand Wash

1. A Gentle Bath: Start with a basin filled with lukewarm water at around 30℃.

2. Silk-Safe Detergent: Choose a pH balance mild detergent that's specially made for silk. It's like a magic potion that'll keep your pillowcase feeling brand new.

3. Inside Out for Love: Turn your pillowcase inside out, and let it soak in the gentle water for a few minutes.

4. Soft Dance Moves: Now, with tender moves, dip your silk pillowcase up and down in the water. This motion gently cleanses the fabric.

5. Rinse Like a Pro: Rinse the silk pillowcase in lukewarm water (30℃) till it's clear of any detergent.

6. Time to Dry: Please do not wring your Sylkis pillowcase. Hang your silk pillowcase to dry. Just remember, avoid direct sunlight to keep it at its best.

Machine Wash

1. When laundry day arrives: Separate different colors and fabrics to prevent any color bleeding or fabric damage.

2. Safeguarding it: Place your Sylkis silk pillowcase into a delicates mesh bag, making sure to turn the pillowcase inside out first.

3. Silk-Safe Detergent: Choose a pH balance mild detergent that's specially made for silk. It's like a magic potion that'll keep your pillowcase feeling brand new.

4. Ready for the silky ride: Start a delicate cycle on your washing machine, using cold water or lukewarm water (30℃). Or set a dedicated silk cycle if your machine has it.

5. Skip tumble drying: Minimize spin time to keep those delicate silk fibers happy and healthy, ensuring your pillowcase's softness and longevity.

6. Time to Dry: Please do not wring your Sylkis pillowcase. Hang your silk pillowcase to dry. Just remember, avoid direct sunlight to keep it at its best.

What is Momme?
Momme (mm) - (pronounced ‘mommy’), is a unit traditionally used to measure the quality of silk fabrics. This parameter dances within a spectrum stretching from 12 to 25 momme units (with 19 momme and above being high quality). Sylkis solid-hued silk pillowcases are made from 22 momme silk, while the patterned prints are 19 momme silk.

Different weight Silks are used for different purposes as they drape and feel different according to the weight / momme count.

For pillowcases, a lower count momme has less silk in the weave and therefore more friction. The friction is precisely what accelerates the ageing process, so a higher momme count is essential.

By contrast, a momme count which is too high becomes too thick, and is unable to drape as well. A very high momme count which contains too much silk for skincare feels very stiff and is uncomfortable against our skin.

After countless research and testing, our results show that 22 and 19 momme silks are the best for skin and hair.

What is the threadcount of Sylkis Pillowcase?
Our 22mm pillowcase (solid hues) is 600TC and 19mm pillowcase (patterned prints) is 450TC.
